Inspirational Beliefs by Mike Noel-Smith

Our beliefs influence and mould our behaviours and ultimately the way we live our lives. What we believe in will dictate how we view situations and the people that we meet. To a large extent we will also provide the outcome for such events through our actions/behaviours. Some will be good outcomes (or experiences) others not so. Some of these beliefs are held in our conscious mind but most of them are hidden in our subconscious.

Most of our beliefs are formed very early in our lives but they can change as we progress on our journey through life. The thing is, we all probably at some stage had a limiting belief about something and this remains with us until we choose to change it. And we need to change and update otherwise we just might not truly live the life we want. How many of us were told by our parents, sports coaches or teachers at school during our growing lives that, “you cannot do that”, “you shouldn't do that” or “I wouldn't do that if I was you”. This in turn can lead us to feel insecure, possess a lack of self-confidence and just not willing to ‘let go' and enjoys ourselves. Negative and limiting beliefs remain locked away in the files of that super computer that we all own – our brain. And they can stay there a very long time indeed…

The illusion that beliefs are fixed, written in stone for life is absolute non-sense. You can choose them and more importantly you can change them. Beliefs are about choice – what you want and how you want to behave.

So, how do we go about changing limiting beliefs into inspirational thoughts, actions and behaviours?

It's an approach to mentally spring clean the way you view your life – your ‘map of the world'. It's training your subconscious mind to accept success and ignore failure. Concentrating on the negatives and failure will, guess what, bring more negative thought and failure. Treat setbacks as lessons to learn for the future, an opportunity to try things out – you may not always get it right, but then if you do not try for fear of failing then you will never know!

If you want greater happiness and success in your future, start now, start today. Remember you have the choice!

“Remember, happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have, it depends solely upon what you think” Dale Carnegie.
